Manzanares is music! This award winning band is best described as Spanish guitar, sizzling Latin percussion, and soulful vocals. Manzanares combines to create a high-energy and fiery sound that has been labeled Nuevo Latino.
Led by brothers, David and Michael Manzanares, on guitars and vocals; and joined by Maximiño Manzanares on guitar and vocals, the group is surrounded by and features the virtuosic rhythms of their Latinex/Worldbeat band, including Mark Clark on drums and vocals, Kevin Miller on congas, guitar and vocals, Jose Romero on bass, Chief Sanchez on trumpet and percussion, and Kanoa Kaluhiwa on saxophone and percussion.
David and Michael were born on a ranch in Abiquiú, NM. As children, they were surrounded by the music of their father and uncles playing guitar. Their family and friends would dance and sing to the Northern New Mexico music - songs from another time, including rancheras, corridos, huapangos, boleros and valses. The brothers soon joined in and these traditions continue today. This early musical influence is a big source of their inspiration.
For the past three decades, and performing for audiences all over New Mexico, regionally, nationally and internationally, Manzanares weaves a splendid musical tapestry with a dazzling repertoire that ranges from Spanish guitar melodies to Flamenco to Pop to Latin Rock! They have shared the stage with many notable musicians including the Mavericks, Los Lobos, and Harry Belafonte to name a few.
Born with a passion for music, they continue to inspire audiences to dance! Their shows and musical magic celebrate their culture, traditions, family and community.
